Celebrities' Twitter accounts, like Huck's, are inflated.
Research points to fraud in the number of followers celebrities claim to have, with the data being used commercially; Huck is believed to have more than 4 million fake followers.
247 - A news story published this weekend in the Radar column of Veja magazine could cause harm to celebrities such as Luciano Huck, Claudia Leitte, and Ivete Sangalo.
Conducted by the digital consultancy Sequaz, the study reveals that the celebrities inflated their Twitter data with false information. In the cases of all three, 75% to 80% of their followers are inactive Twitter profiles. In Huck's case, therefore, more than 4 million followers would be fake.
The revelation could be detrimental to celebrities, as selling tweets—those 140-character phrases—has become common practice in Brazil. The larger the audience, the higher the price.
