Tucanos will follow the national alliance in the states.
The rule was created in 1998 for all parties and abolished in 2006 by the Chamber of Deputies; the measure aims to prevent opposing parties in the presidential campaign from allying themselves in the states; "The objective is to organize state politics with the national project. Without intending to remove the autonomy of state directorates, all decisions will now need to pass through the scrutiny of Brasília," explains the PSDB leader in the Chamber, Antônio Imbassahy.
Bahia 247 - The leader of the PSDB in the Chamber of Deputies, Antônio Imbassahy from Bahia, announced this Friday that the party will institute, "internally," starting with this year's elections, the rule of political verticalization, which prohibits regional slates that are dissonant with national alliances.
The rule was created in 1998 for all parties and abolished in 2006 by the Chamber of Deputies. The measure aims to prevent opposing parties in the presidential campaign from forming alliances in the states.
"The goal is to align state politics with the national project. Without intending to remove the autonomy of state directorates, all decisions will now need to be vetted by Brasília," Imbassahy explained in an interview with the Bahia Notícias website.
The resolution will be presented at the next meeting of the PSDB's national executive committee, on February 11th in Brasília.
