Tucano arrested in Minas Gerais: 'We need to invent scapegoats'
Former congressman Nárcio Rodrigues, who was president of the PSDB party in Minas Gerais and Secretary of State during the Antonio Anastasia administration, commented on his arrest this Monday, the 30th, in Operation Aequalis, on suspicion of participating in a scheme to finance PSDB campaigns in 2012 and 2014; "We are in a political crisis, right? It's necessary to invent culprits to level down," he said upon arriving at the Institute of Legal Medicine (IML).
Mines 247 "We're in a political crisis, right? We need to invent scapegoats to level things down." That's how former PSDB (Brazilian Social Democracy Party) congressman Nárcio Rodrigues reacted to his arrest this Monday, the 30th, in Operation Aequalis, launched in Belo Horizonte and São Paulo.
The statement was made to reporters from the newspaper O Tempo, as the politician arrived at the Institute of Forensic Medicine (IML). The operation was launched in Belo Horizonte and São Paulo by the Minas Gerais Public Prosecutor's Office, along with the Metropolitan Tactical Patrol Battalion (Rotam) of the Military Police and the Civil Police.
Among others arrested in today's operation, besides Nárcio, are Alexandre Pereira Horta, Luciano dos Reis, and Maurílio Bretas. In total, six arrests were made - four in Belo Horizonte, one in Uberaba (MG), and another in São Paulo.
"We still don't know why we were arrested," commented the politician, who was previously president of the PSDB-MG and secretary in the government of Antonio Anastasia (PMDB). According to a report in Folha, the operation investigates a scheme to finance PSDB campaigns in 2012 and 2014.
