TRF-4 denies Lula the right to participate in the debate.
Judge Cláudia Cristina Cristofani, of the TRF-4, denied this Thursday (9) a writ of mandamus filed by the PT that requested the participation of its presidential candidate, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in the debate with presidential candidates held tonight by TV Bandeirantes; the lawyers' request stated that the debate is an "essential event for the electoral campaign" in which there is "the possibility of showing their proposals to the electorate and, in the end, giving them the conditions to decide what kind of country plan they want"
Rio Grande do Sul 247 - Judge Cláudia Cristina Cristofani, of the Federal Regional Court of the 4th Region (TRF-4), denied this Thursday (9) a writ of mandamus filed by the PT that requested the participation of former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, PT's presidential candidate, in the debate with presidential candidates held by TV Bandeirantes.
The lawyers' request stated that the debate is an "essential event for the election campaign" in which there is "the possibility of showing their proposals to the electorate and, ultimately, giving them the conditions to decide what kind of country they want."
The PT had filed a writ of mandamus this Wednesday, a legal recourse that seeks to combat any violations relating to a decision already taken, to question the decision of Judge Bianca Georgia Cruz Arenhart, who also denied, on Monday (6), Lula's participation in the Band debate.
"Considering the limits of cognition inherent to the present procedural moment, since the issue will be examined by the Panel, no flagrant illegality is found in the challenged decision, as there is no legal norm attributing legitimacy to third parties to request, via appeal of criminal execution, benefits in favor of someone who is serving a sentence," the magistrate points out.
