247 - The Inter-Union Department of Parliamentary Advisory (DIAP) released this week the list of the 150 most influential parliamentarians in the National Congress. Three people from Sergipe are on the list – Senator Antônio Carlos Valadares (PSB) – who was among the top 100 “leaders” of Congress, in the “articulator” category – and federal deputies Márcio Macêdo (PT) and Rogério Carvalho (PT) – considered rising parliamentarians. This is the 7th time Valadares has been awarded. Rogério appears on the list for the third time, while Márcio appears for the second time. Sergipe is represented in Brasília by eight federal deputies and three senators.

Using criteria such as reputation, hierarchical positioning within the power structure, and the ability to influence and lead the choices of other politicians, the 20th edition of the DIAP survey identified those chosen through interviews with federal deputies and senators, advisors from the Chamber and the Senate, as well as journalists, scientists, and political analysts.

In Valadares' case, he was chosen as the coordinator because of his "excellent rapport with various political currents, his ability to interpret the majority's thinking, which qualifies him to organize and create the conditions for consensus." Regarding Márcio and Rogério, according to DIAP, they are deputies "who have sought to open channels of dialogue, creating their own spaces and establishing themselves for the exercise of formal or informal leadership within Parliament."

As a member of parliament, Valadares is the author of several bills that positively impact the population of Sergipe and Brazil. One of the highlights is Bill No. 209/203, authored by him and sanctioned in July 2012 by the President of the Republic, Dilma Rousseff, which originated Law No. 12.683/2012, imposing stricter penalties for money laundering crimes in Brazil. The law was highlighted by the Congresso em Foco portal as one of the 10 laws enacted and sanctioned by the president last year that have a direct positive impact on the lives of Brazilian citizens, the country's economy, and the fight against financial crimes.

Márcio Macêdo is a member of the Joint Committee on Climate Change (CMMC), of which he has served as president and rapporteur; he is also part of the Environment and Sustainable Development Committee. He is the deputy leader of the PT (Workers' Party) in the Chamber of Deputies. In 2011, the first year of his term, the congressman was one of the main interlocutors of the environmental caucus in the debate surrounding the new Forest Code. This year, Márcio Macêdo chaired the joint committee that discussed Provisional Measure 589/12, which dealt with the installment payment of social security debts of states and municipalities. His work was fundamental in making the new legislation more palatable to municipal and state administrators.

Rogério's career is closely linked to the main theme of his professional life, which is health. Currently, he is the rapporteur for the provisional measure that will implement the "More Doctors" program in Brazil. He also leads the discussion on the reformulation of the Unified Health System and the improvement of the Brazilian State.
