Electoral Court prohibits Iris's defamatory campaign against Marconi.

Judge Sebastião Luiz Fleury, of the TRE-GO, granted, on Sunday (28), a preliminary injunction favorable to the coalition Guarantee of a Better Future for Goiás, of Governor Marconi Perillo (PSDB), determining that candidate Iris Rezende (PMDB) does not disseminate, in the free electoral time on radio and television, untrue facts and make inferences associating the governor's name with that of the racketeer Carlinhos Cachoeira; he also determined a daily fine of R$ 10 in case of non-compliance with the decision.

247 - Judge Sebastião Luiz Fleury, of the Regional Electoral Court (TRE-GO), granted, this Sunday, a preliminary injunction in favor of the coalition "Guarantee of a Better Future for Goiás," of Governor Marconi Perillo (PSDB), ordering that candidate Iris Rezende, of the PMDB, not broadcast, during free election time on radio and television, untrue facts, nor make insinuations associating the governor's name with that of businessman Carlos Augusto Ramos, known as Carlinhos Cachoeira.

The legal department presented arguments to the judge proving "trickery" in Iris's campaign advertisement. The injunction therefore corroborates the claim that there is no business dealings of any kind between the businessman and the governor.

“The Electoral Court (...) cannot tolerate propaganda that exceeds the limits permitted by law, under penalty of turning the electoral process into personal vendettas,” says an excerpt from the preliminary injunction. “The facts narrated (...) go beyond mere political criticism.”

In addition to prohibiting the broadcast, the judge also set a daily fine of R$ 10 in case of non-compliance with the decision. On radio and television, the programs of the candidates for government will still be broadcast this Monday (29) and next Wednesday (1st).
