The Regional Electoral Court (TRE) will judge approximately 340 candidate registrations.
According to the Regional Electoral Court of Tocantins, 340 requests have already been distributed to the rapporteurs, judges who are members of the TRE; by August 5th, the full court will have judged all the Candidate Registration processes; the sessions will take place from July 22nd onwards, in two shifts. In the morning, from 10 am and in the afternoon, from 17 pm; the deadline to file a request to challenge candidacies ends this Thursday, the 10th.
Tocantins 247 - With the closing of the Candidate Registration period for the 2014 elections, the Regional Electoral Court of Tocantins has counted 340 applications that have already been distributed to the rapporteurs, the Judges who are members of the TRE-TO. By August 5th, the full court will have judged all Candidate Registration processes. The sessions will take place from July 22nd onwards, in two shifts: in the morning, starting at 10:00 AM, and in the afternoon, starting at 5:00 PM.
According to the court, with the publication of the notice requesting Candidate Registrations on Monday, the 7th, a five-day period was opened for any person, political party, coalition, or the Electoral Public Prosecutor's Office to challenge it in a reasoned petition. Tocantins anticipated the publication of the notice by three days, according to the TSE – the final deadline would have been this Thursday, the 10th.
According to article 38 of Resolution 23.405 of 2014, once the deadline for challenging the decision has passed, the candidate, political party, or coalition will be notified to, within seven days, contest it or comment on the notice of ineligibility, attach documents, indicate a list of witnesses, and request the production of other evidence, including documentary evidence, that may be in the possession of third parties, public agencies, or in judicial or administrative proceedings, except for proceedings that are being conducted under seal.
In these elections, five candidates are running for Governor: Joaquim Rocha, from the Socialism and Liberty Party (PSOL); Carlos Potengy Barbosa Ribeiro, from the Brazilian Communist Party (PCB); Ataídes de Oliveira, from the Reage Tocantins Coalition; Marcelo de Carvalho Miranda, from the Experience Makes the Change Coalition; and Sandoval Lobo Cardoso, from the Change We See Coalition.
