SÃO PAULO, SP - 11/15/2013: TITE/PRESS CONFERENCE - Corinthians president Mário Gobbi defined the decision not to renew coach Tite's contract for 2014 as a necessity. "He was going to have to leave someday. This isn't a public office," said the director (Photo: Felipe L. Goncalves)

247 - Coach Tite became emotional this Thursday, the 15th, when he confirmed in a press conference that he will be leaving his position as Corinthians' manager after more than three years. "There are stages, moments, it's a cycle. It's been three years and a bit, and that's unusual, out of the ordinary, and the decision was mutual. But the work isn't finished yet," said the coach, who asked for focus on next Sunday's match against Vasco.

He couldn't hold back the tears when listing the club's most important achievements. According to him, one of the most emotional moments was the elimination of Boca Juniors in the round of 16 of this year's Libertadores Cup. "It was recognition without a title. The greatest, in terms of moral dimension, was that recognition, that winning wasn't at any cost and that we lost because of something shady, dirty, foul," said the coach.

Tite also recalled the achievements of winning the 2011 Brazilian Championship and the 2013 Club World Cup. Regarding his successor – Mano Menezes has a verbal agreement to return – he said he would have no problem talking. "I am open both professionally and personally," he said. Adding together his two stints in charge of the team (the first was between 2004 and 2005), the coach has 268 games for the club, with 131 wins, 83 draws and 54 losses.

The coach said he had received offers from five Brazilian clubs in recent months, but stated that he does not intend to take on the role of coach for another team in the short term. Tite left open the possibility of working with the Brazilian national team after the World Cup, since Felipão has already announced that he will leave the position after the FIFA World Cup. "Two (teams) from abroad also contacted me, but my priority was the decision with Corinthians. Working abroad could be an option now," he said.
