A company based in Germany has been confirmed as a service provider during the World Cup.
World Cup Portal - After deeming the implementation of goal-line technology (GLT) successful at the Confederations Cup, FIFA confirmed that GoalControl will be the official supplier for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
The Germany-based company won a competitive bidding process in April for both tournaments, but confirmation of its nomination for the World Cup was contingent on the system's performance during the Confederations Cup.
Although no incidents requiring the technology to determine whether the ball had crossed the line occurred during the Confederations Cup, the system met the required standards, according to FIFA, and correctly flagged all 68 goals of the tournament. The organization reported a high level of satisfaction among the referees.
