Tasso: Aécio hasn't thought about the party as a whole for a long time.
Senator Tasso Jereissati (PSDB-CE) spoke to journalists this Thursday (9), minutes after being removed from the interim presidency of the party by Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG), and strongly criticized the senator from Minas Gerais; "He [Aécio] hasn't been thinking about the party's collective for a long time. Ever since he's been clinging to this presidency. If he were thinking about the collective, this wouldn't be happening today," said Tasso, regarding the crisis the PSDB is going through.
Newspapers in Brazil - Senator Tasso Jereissati (PSDB-CE) spoke to journalists this Thursday (9), minutes after being dismissed by Senator Aécio Neves (PSDB-MG) from the interim presidency of the party, and made strong criticisms of the senator from Minas Gerais.
"He [Aécio] hasn't been thinking about the party as a whole for a long time. Ever since he's been clinging to this presidency. If he were thinking about the collective good, this wouldn't be happening today," Tasso stated, referring to the crisis the PSDB is going through.
In stating that he has "profound differences" with Aécio, Jereissati said that his PSDB is the same as Fernando Henrique's, Mário Covas's, and Franco Montoro's, but it is not the same PSDB as the senator from Minas Gerais. "The PSDB of those guys is not mine. And it's not Fernando Henrique's, Mário Covas's, or Franco Montoro's either," he said.
Tasso also said he was surprised by Aécio's decision, who has been removed from the party presidency since May due to the accusations, recordings in which he asks JBS executives for R$ 2 million, and the businessmen's testimonies. The ousted politician also stated that former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso and governor Geraldo Alckmin were not informed of the decision.
