247 - Former senator and Secretary of Human Rights of São Paulo, Eduardo Suplicy (PT-SP), said that he will not support senator and ex-wife Marta Suplicy (PT-SP) in a possible candidacy for Mayor of São Paulo by the PSB. Suplicy's statement, made this Friday (6), comes in the wake of statements made by members of the PSB that Marta should announce her entry into the party ranks in May.
"I respect her decision, but I have a historical commitment to the PT. Furthermore, I am working to ensure that Fernando Haddad delivers the best possible administration," said Suplicy. The PT member said he was not surprised by her departure from the party. "She had already been giving signs of her dissatisfaction within the PT," he noted.
Marta's departure from the PT and her joining the PSB was announced this Friday morning (6) through São Paulo socialists. Marta was reportedly informed that she could run for Mayor of São Paulo in 2016, but if she is not elected there would be no guarantees to run for Governor of the State in 2018.
