247 - Public officials from the government of Mario Covas (PSDB) received bribes from Alstom in installments. According to a document seized at the company's headquarters in France, members of the Energy Secretariat and three directorates of EPTE (Empresa Paulista de Transmissão de Energia) received bribes so that the company could obtain a contract worth US$ 45,7 million (R$ 52 million, in values ​​at the time).

At the time the contract was negotiated, the department was headed by the current city councilor Andrea Matarazzo. The Energy Department received 3% of the contract (R$ 1,56 million). The financial, administrative, and technical departments of EPTE appear as recipients of 1,5% (R$ 780), 1% (R$ 520), and 0,13% (R$ 67,6), respectively.

The document makes it clear that Alstom's management intended to make another disbursement in October 1999 to "improve the climate" with the client.

The governor of São Paulo, Geraldo Alckmin (PSDB)He declined to comment on Matarazzo's involvement, who has always been part of the PSDB leadership in the state. He only said that he is awaiting investigations.

The councilman, in turn, claims that the contract with Alstom was signed by previous administrations. He said that in the seven months he served as Secretary of Energy, from January to August 1998, he "never saw or signed any contract addendum and has no idea what it is about."
