Superior Court of Justice denies Habeas Corpus to councilman who fled Juazeiro do Norte.

The fugitive city councilor from Juazeiro do Norte, José de Amélia Júnior, lost another appeal in the judiciary, this time a Habeas Corpus petition at the Superior Court of Justice (STJ). The request was denied by the rapporteur of the case, Minister Felix Fischer. The petition was filed with the STJ on May 6th. The decision was issued on May 8th and published today. 

The Public Prosecutor's Office has charged José de Amélia as the leader of a criminal organization, responsible for seven crimes: ordering unauthorized expenditure, increasing personnel expenses, falsifying documents, using false documents, criminal association, embezzlement, and money laundering. In addition to him, seven other people were charged.
