Pernambuco 247 - The Brazilian Supreme Court (STF) has extended the investigation against Senator Fernando Bezerra Coelho (PSB-PE) for another 60 days. In the order signed by Justice Teori Zavascki, rapporteur for "Operation Lava Jato" at the Court, he states that the investigation must proceed harmoniously between the Attorney General's Office and the Federal Police. This refers to the dispute between the Federal Police and the Attorney General's Office regarding the direction of the Operation Lava Jato investigations.

"The Public Prosecutor's Office certainly assumes an even more prominent role in the investigative phase in cases of privileged jurisdiction, naturally being able, whenever it deems necessary, to indicate complementary investigations to those carried out by the police authority or to request measures that are subject to judicial authorization. But this institutional role, to be successful, must not dispense with the indispensable and decisive cooperation of the police authority," Zavasck emphasized.

The Supreme Court Justice also authorized six specific investigative actions against the senator, but the content of the investigations was not disclosed. Zavasck also rejected a request made by lawyer Gabriella Rollemberg, who defends FBC. The content of the defense request was also not disclosed.
