Following the events that came to light in recent days, exposing the procedures of some members of the Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (MPF), Senator Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL) said that he is one of the preferred victims of the Attorney General, Rodrigo Janot; according to Calheiros, the precarious mass investigations without evidence end up causing unprecedented harm to popular representation; he also said that there are several indications that the head of the MP promoted, encouraged and covered up leaks and kept data that were under judicial secrecy.

Calheiros said that he is one of the preferred victims of the Public Prosecutor, Rodrigo Janot.
According to Calheiros, the mass, flawed investigations lacking evidence end up causing unprecedented harm to popular representation. "It's clear that this is not good for Brazil's young democracy, which needs to be nurtured every day," he said.
Renan said there is ample evidence that the head of the Public Prosecutor's Office promoted, encouraged, and covered up leaks and withheld data that was under judicial secrecy.
“I am one of the victims of Janot, who promoted an investigation without any factual or legal basis, solely to damage my public image by trying to influence news reports and judgments. Now, Mr. President, what idea do some people have of me? Especially those who don't know me? Even sectors of communication and courts that can be contaminated by certain disclosures,” he emphasized.
Finally, Renan said that he sincerely trusts that the "Supreme Federal Court will know how to separate the wheat from the chaff and will not bow to empty and hasty accusations."
