Regarding the mensalão scandal, Father Ralph says, "There's more to come."
On the official website of Ralf Gerany de Melo, known as Pai Ralf, one of the most famous babalorixás (priests of Candomblé) in Pernambuco, all the entities received by the spiritualist are listed; according to the babalorixá, the arrests of the so-called "mensaleiros" (those involved in the Mensalão corruption scandal) fulfilled predictions he made through the entity Maria Padilha back in June 2013, and that "There's more to come"; despite being "intimate with politics," Pai Ralf doesn't show the same certainty about football, since he predicted an excellent campaign for Náutico in 2013, and the Pernambuco team failed to reach the final of the Pernambuco championship and maintains the worst campaign in the history of Série A.
Pernambuco 247 - On the official website of Ralf Gerany de Melo, known as Pai Ralf, one of the most famous babalorixás (priests of Candomblé) in Pernambuco, all the entities received by the spiritualist are listed – ranging from the entity Maria do Buraco to the famous Pena Branca. But it was Maria Padilha, however, who revealed herself as a political expert: according to the babalorixá, the arrests of the so-called "mensaleiros" (those involved in the Mensalão scandal), which occurred last weekend, confirmed information received from Padilha by Pai Ralf back in June 2013.
“Actually, she was the one who predicted it. I was possessed when Maria Padilha said they would be arrested. Many people said she wouldn't be right, that they wouldn't be arrested because it would all end in nothing. But she was right. I was the first to say that this would happen,” commented Pai Ralf, proudly, to the Folha Blog. Maria Padilha's visions, however, go beyond arrests. “She said in June that there would even be death. We are seeing José Genoíno [PT] around, maybe that's the death,” assessed Ralf. The former national president of the PT recently underwent surgery due to heart problems and felt unwell while being taken to the Papuda prison in Brasília.
Despite demonstrating familiarity with the world of politics, Pai Ralf doesn't show the same certainty about football. "I see much glory and victory for Náutico," declared the spiritual leader, while making his New Year's predictions at the beginning of 2013. Ironically, or not, Náutico failed to reach the final of the 2013 Pernambuco championship, and with only 17 points, maintains the worst campaign in the history of Série A. Apparently, Pernambuco politicians feel safe consulting with Pai Ralf, but it's best that the boards of Santa Cruz and Sport stay away from the spiritual leader.
