The situation is critical, says police chief after the death of a city councilman in Batalha.

Gazetaweb.com - The head delegate of the city of Batalha, Rômulo Monteiro, declared, in an interview with Rádio Gazeta AM, on the afternoon of this Thursday (9), that the situation in the sertanejo municipality is critical after the execution of councilor Neguinho Boiadeiro, killed with several gunshots shortly after leaving the City Council headquarters.

Police officials said they are working to calm tensions in the city, as the victim's son is reportedly planning to avenge his father's death.

According to the police chief, "Pretinho," who is Neguinho Boiadeiro's son, left his residence as soon as he learned of the murder.

It is suspected that he went to the home of someone who was an enemy of the Boiadeiro family and that, therefore, he may be connected to the councilman's death.

According to police, Pretinho arrived at the residence and immediately began firing a gun, hitting the son of a local politician identified only as "Zé Emílio".

The Military Police, in turn, deployed men from the Special Operations Battalion (BOPE) to Batalha in order to reinforce security in that municipality. A police investigation will be opened to investigate the circumstances of the attack, which also injured the councilman's security guard – who is reportedly a civil police officer – as well as the second incident involving Neguinho Boiadeiro's son.
