Sisepe: 'OAB could contribute to the negotiations'

Tocantins 247 - By unanimous decision of the Sectional Council, the Brazilian Bar Association in Tocantins (OAB-TO) decided, this Friday (12), to create a special commission aimed at contributing to the mediation of the conflict between the public servants' unions and the State government that generated the general strike of several categories of state civil servants. “We have experienced colleagues in this area and we can contribute to the negotiations,” explained the president of the OAB, Walter Ohofugi.

According to the president of Sisepe-TO, Cleiton Pinheiro, the OAB (Brazilian Bar Association) "is an organization that values ​​the legality of people's rights, so this commission can contribute to this mediation and ensure that the government sits down with the category and presents a proposal." The strike began on August 9th, with the workers protesting the non-payment of the base salary adjustment (inflation compensation mandated by law). The state government emphasizes that there is no money to cover the salary adjustment and that granting it now would violate the Fiscal Responsibility Law.
