Bahia 247 - The judge of the Court of Justice of Bahia (TJ-BA), Maria da Purificação, established this Thursday (6) a daily fine of R$ 10 thousand to the Union of Passenger Transport Companies of Salvador (Setps) in case of non-compliance with the court decision that determines the free transportation of civil and military police officers on Salvador buses.

The fine was imposed after the Attorney General's Office of the State of Bahia informed the Court that Steps was failing to comply with the decision.

The Attorney General, Paulo Moreno Carvalho, considers "the deliberate disrespect shown by SETPS towards the Justice system of Bahia unacceptable, revealing an attitude of arrogance towards public institutions, in complete contempt and affront to judicially guaranteed rights."

"The Attorney General's Office will spare no effort to ensure the effectiveness of the measure and will vehemently repudiate any irresponsible attempt at further non-compliance, in order to ensure that military police officers use public transportation in the manner defined in the decision. It is necessary that public transportation concessionaires have a clear understanding of the public purpose of this activity and the need for commitment to public safety policies for the benefit of society," says the prosecutor.
