Silvio Costa: PT listens to the people. I think Marília will be a candidate in Pernambuco.
Nationally, the PT (Workers' Party) and PDT (Democratic Labour Party) are vying for the support of the PSB (Brazilian Socialist Party); according to the negotiations, the PSB would not field a candidate in Minas Gerais, where they would support the reelection of Fernando Pimentel, and in exchange, the Workers' Party would abandon the candidacy of councilwoman Marília Arraes, cousin of former governor Eduardo Campos, in Pernambuco.
Pernambuco 247 - Pre-candidate for the Senate, Sílvio Costa (Avante-PE), said he believes in the candidacy of Recife councilwoman Marília Arraes (PT) for governor of Pernambuco.
“The people have said we want to change Pernambuco. The decision will be up to the PT, and I respect that. But the PT always listens to and attends to the people. It’s a hallmark of the party. I believe that Marília will be a candidate,” said the parliamentarian, who, this Sunday (24), visited Caruaru, in the Agreste region of the state. The statements were published on Jamildo’s Blog.
Nationally, the PT is vying with the PDT for the support of the PSB. According to the negotiations, the PSOL would not launch its own candidacy in Minas Gerais, where it would support the re-election of Governor Fernando Pimentel (PT), and in exchange, the Workers' Party would drop Marília's candidacy in Pernambuco and support the re-election of Paulo Câmara.
This past weekend, the congresswoman criticized the absence of the Pernambuco state governor from the June festivals in the state. “This absence signifies a lack of commitment to popular traditions. To govern Pernambuco, one must value its culture, cherish it, and be present at the people's celebrations,” said Marília.
