Civil servants occupy the Management Secretariat.

During the National Day of Struggle demonstrations, public servants in Alagoas occupied the building of the State Secretariat of Public Management. Leaders of the Education union are demanding the payment of salary increases and the end of tax exemptions granted to sugar mill owners. Meanwhile, the Alagoas Civil Police Union (Sindpol) is requesting the implementation of the Career Plan, Positions and Salaries (PCCS) and structural improvements in the state's police stations. Despite the specific demands of each category, the public servants share a common agenda, which calls for government investment in essential areas such as health, education, and security.

Alagoas247 - Civil servants from various areas occupied the headquarters of the State Secretariat for Public Management (Segesp) on Thursday morning (11) to demand a position from Secretary Alexandre Lages regarding the demands of the categories, which include, among other things, salary readjustment and implementation of the Career and Salary Plan (PCCS).

Workers in the health and education sectors, as well as civil and federal police officers, are requesting a meeting with the head of the department. From there, the group will march to Centenário Square, in the Farol neighborhood, where they will gather for the large demonstration that promises to take over the streets of the capital in the afternoon.

According to Girlene Lázaro, from the Union of Education Workers in Alagoas (Sinteal), among the demands of the department's employees are the payment of outstanding amounts related to teacher promotions and the end of the tax exemption granted by the State to sugar mill owners.

Due to the mobilization of the category, classes in the state and municipal public school systems are suspended for the entire day. Students, staff, and teachers have been called upon to participate in the protest this Thursday.

Professor Washington Viana, from the State University of Alagoas (Uneal), who participated in the occupation of Segesp this morning, emphasized that the state government has not fulfilled the agreement made with the category after the six-month strike. “After the strike ended, there was no progress in the negotiations. The government promised a public competition for permanent staff and a salary realignment for the university's technicians, and nothing has been done so far,” he stated.

The president of the Civil Police Union of Alagoas (Sindpol), Josimar Melo, said that the group is requesting the implementation of the Career, Compensation and Salary Plan (PCCS) and structural improvements in the state's police stations, which are currently in a precarious situation.

Despite the specific demands of each category, public employees share a common agenda, which calls for government investment in essential areas such as health, education, and security.
