Education workers decide to go on strike.
Education workers in Maceió have decided to go on strike this month; the reason is the category's base date, in January, but so far no increase has been granted by the municipality; from Wednesday (22) classes will be suspended indefinitely.
Alagoas247 - During an assembly held this Tuesday (14), the workers of the municipal education network of Maceió decided to start a strike from Wednesday, April 22. The category demands a salary readjustment of 13,01%.
According to the Communications Office of the Union of Education Workers in Alagoas (Sinteal), the category's base date is in January, but since no increase has been granted by the municipality so far, the workers have decided to strike.
At a meeting on Monday (13), which was not attended by Mayor Rui Palmeira (PSDB), but only by the Municipal Secretary of Education, Ana Dayse Dórea, no proposal was presented.
"The city hall kept asking for an extension, and this dragged on until this month of April. Yesterday, the mayor did not attend the meeting that had been scheduled for quite some time, and the secretary did not bring any proposal for the workers," highlights the union's communications office.
Starting Wednesday (22), classes will be suspended indefinitely. Before that, however, this Wednesday (15), schools will be closed, as employees will join the national strike against outsourcing. The teaching units will reopen on Thursday (16) and Friday (17). On Monday (20) and Tuesday (21), they will be closed again due to the Tiradentes holiday.
