Serra threatens to spoil Aécio's coronation.

247 - The PSDB is experiencing moments of maximum tension. A note published in the column of journalist Sonia Racy, from the Estado de S. Paulo newspaper, reports that José Serra may leave the party on the eve of Aécio Neves' coronation as national president of the party, at the convention this weekend. This would be a theatrical gesture to diminish and spoil the coronation of the senator from Minas Gerais, who will be the party's candidate for president of the Republic in 2014.

To be checked.

Rumors are circulating that Serra will leave the PSDB by the end of the week, on the eve of Aécio's election as party president. When consulted, the PSDB member denied this.

Read also the previous 247 report about Aécio Neves' appeal to José Serra to remain in the PSDB:

247 – About to take over the leadership of the PSDB, Aécio Neves is willing to do anything to maintain the unity of the party, which is expected to launch him as a presidential candidate in 2014.

The senator from Minas Gerais called José Serra, asking the former governor to rule out the possibility of migrating to the MD (Democratic Mobilization) and remain in the PSDB.

After becoming isolated within the party, he was approached by Congressman Roberto Freire (PPS-SP) to join the new party, resulting from the merger of PPS and PMN, with the promise of running for president again.
Aécio even mentioned the possibility of keeping former governor Alberto Goldman as vice-president of the PSDB party in order to convince him.

Governor Geraldo Alckmin (SP) and former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso have been pressuring Serra to feel valued again within the party, in order to help them reduce the resistance from the São Paulo wing to Aécio's candidacy.

The politician from the PSDB party has agreed to participate in the convention that will elect the politician from Minas Gerais as president of the PSDB, next Saturday in Brasília. He will be one of the speakers and will travel to Brasília on the same plane that will take Alckmin and FHC to the federal capital.
