Bahia 247 - Brazilian federal deputy Jorge Solla celebrated the Workers' Party's (PT) decision to support André Figueiredo (PDT-CE) in the elections for president of the Chamber of Deputies.

"The party's activism throughout the country was fundamental in this process. That's the great difference of the PT. In moments of greatest adversity, its social roots are present. The Workers' Party could not even consider supporting someone who played a leading role in the impeachment process of President Dilma. André Figueiredo's name presents itself as the option of respect for democratic institutions," said Solla.

From the very beginning, the congressman from Bahia positioned himself against the PT's support for the names of congressmen Rodrigo Maia (DEM-RJ) and Jovair Arantes (PTB-GO). "It would be a contradiction for the party to make any kind of alliance with those who betrayed democracy and the Brazilian people," the PT member declared.
