Senators request that the Attorney General's Office investigate Temer and Moreira for obstruction of justice.

Senators Lídice da Mata (PSB), Randolfe Rodrigues (REDE), João Capiberibe (PSB), Vanessa Grazziotin (PCdoB), Regina Sousa (PT), and Lindbergh Farias (PT) presented a request to the Attorney General's Office on Tuesday for an investigation against Michel Temer and the new Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, Moreira Franco, for alleged obstruction of justice. They question Moreira's appointment, arguing that there are "apparently ulterior motives" behind the choice of the PMDB member for the position. "Many actions were unequal, with selective leaks, etc. The time has come to demand equal treatment of these issues from the Justice system," says Lídice da Mata (pictured), from Bahia.

Bahia 247 - Senators Lídice da Mata (PSB-BA), Randolfe Rodrigues (REDE-AP), João Capiberibe (PSB-AP), Vanessa Grazziotin (PCdoB-AM), Regina Sousa (PT-PI) and Lindbergh Farias (PT-RJ) submitted this Tuesday (7) to the Attorney General's Office (PGR) a request for investigation against Michel Temer and the new Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, Moreira Franco (PMDB-RJ), for alleged obstruction of justice.

Senators are questioning the appointment of Moreira Franco to the newly created General Secretariat of the Presidency. They argue that there are "apparently ulterior motives" behind the selection of the PMDB member for the position.

With the appointment, Moreira Franco acquired the status of minister and, consequently, the prerogative of privileged jurisdiction, which prevents any investigation or action at the first instance level of the Justice system, automatically transferring jurisdiction to the Supreme Federal Court (STF).

The PMDB member was mentioned in the testimony of former Odebrecht vice-president Cláudio Melo Filho, within the scope of Operation Lava Jato, as a beneficiary of the corruption scheme that devastated Petrobras.

The senators requested that President Temer and Minister Moreira Franco be given "equal" treatment regarding the appointment made by former President Dilma Rousseff when she nominated former President Lula for the position of Chief of Staff. This appointment was later revoked by the Supreme Court. According to the senators, similarly, "President Michel Temer is committing the crime of obstruction of justice."

According to Lídice da Mata, "many actions were unequal, with selective leaks, etc. The time has come to demand equality from the Justice system in the treatment of these issues," said the senator from Bahia.
