Fiji national team lands in Salvador escorted by police.
A group of 60 military police officers welcomed the 23 members of the Fijian football delegation at Salvador airport. Fiji is one of the eight teams that will compete in the 2016 Olympic Games in the capital. After disembarking in the early hours of Wednesday morning, the athletes were escorted to the Grand Hotel Stella Maris. "We started our mega Olympic operation well. With the integration between state and federal security forces and municipal institutions, we ensured the athletes disembarked in an organized and safe manner, without causing any harm to other passengers on the plane," said the coordinator of security operations for the Olympic Games in Salvador, Lieutenant Colonel Marcos Oliveira of the Military Police.

After the disembarkation process, in the early hours of Wednesday (27), the athletes were escorted to the Grand Hotel Stella Maris.

The officer added that the entire security scheme is being monitored 24 hours a day by the Integrated Regional Command and Control Center (CICCR), which is located in the Operations and Intelligence Center of the Public Security Secretariat (SSP).
In addition to Beptur, the following participated in the operation: the Eagle Squadron, the Special Rounds (Rondesp), both from the Military Police, the Federal Police, members of Infraero, the Rio 2016 Olympic Committee, as well as Transalvador and the Municipal Guard.
Security scheme
Units from the Specialized Tourist Policing Battalion (Beptur), composed of bilingual officers, will conduct visible patrols around the hotel, supported by a Mobile Base and the 15th Independent Company of the Military Police of Itapuã.
Teams from the Special Operations Coordination Unit (COE) of the Civil Police will be on standby for a prompt response to any situation involving a possible terrorist attack or tactical intervention.
