Public Security wins Carnival award.

Responsible for selecting the best artists of the Salvador Carnival for 22 editions, the Dodô and Osmar Trophy changed its format this year and included the category 'Outstanding Public Service'; public safety was highlighted in the opinion of those interviewed and had 85% popular approval; "This award is a recognition of the effort of almost 23 professionals. It is the result of the commitment and improvement that has been made for decades. You can't have a carnival with two million people without security. Qualified public safety focused on this event. A reference for other countries. We will continue working to make an even better carnival in 2016," said Secretary Maurício Barbosa.

Bahia 247 - Responsible for selecting the best artists of the Salvador Carnival for 22 editions, the Dodô and Osmar Trophy changed its format this year and included the category 'Outstanding Public Service'. Items such as portable toilets, street cleaning, transportation, overall organization of the festival, and security were evaluated, with security being highlighted by those interviewed.

Singer Reinaldo (Terra Samba) and the vocalists from É o Tchan!, Compadre Washington and Beto Jamaica, presented the trophy to the State Secretary of Public Security, Maurício Barbosa, who thanked Governor Rui Costa for the trust placed in the team that had over 85% popular approval.

"This award is recognition of the efforts of nearly 23 professionals. It is the result of dedication and improvement that has been underway for decades. You can't have a carnival with two million people without security. Qualified public security focused on this event. A benchmark for other countries. We will continue working to make an even better carnival in 2016," said Maurício.

The state Secretary of Tourism, Nelson Pelegrino, represented Governor Rui Costa and emphasized the importance of the award. "The fundamental characteristic of this trophy is that it's the people who speak. It's those who are in the streets at the most important moment [to evaluate], experiencing the best of Carnival and giving their opinion."

Among the artists and entities that stood out in the 2015 Carnival and received the trophy is the Afro bloc Ilê Aiyê. The other awards were for Outstanding Male Singer (Márcio Victor), Outstanding Female Singer (Ivete Sangalo), Outstanding Band (Psirico), Carnival Success (Tem Xenhenhem), Carnival Bloc (Cerveja & Cia and As Muquiranas), Samba Bloc (Alerta Geral), and Outstanding VIP Box (Salvador) as chosen by the popular vote.

The technical jury has already chosen the best costumes (Claudia Leitte and Daniela Mercury), best female breakthrough artist (Vina Calmon), best male breakthrough artist (Igor Kannário), best Afro bloc costume (Cortejo Afro), and the best moment of Carnival 2015 (Igor Kannário in Campo Grande).
