The state and Fortaleza culture secretariats are discussing this Tuesday morning (28), in a meeting with the State Council for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage (Coepa), the request to list Praça Portugal as a heritage site.

If the request is approved, the square cannot undergo any alterations that would change its character. The City Hall's project foresees the demolition of the current structure, surrounded by a roundabout, and the construction of an intersection with four recreational areas. The Council met for the first time on the 8th to discuss the request to list the square as a protected historical site.
