Health department releases funds for flu relief efforts in São Paulo.

According to a decree from the Ministry of Health, the need to organize outpatient and hospital services in the fight against the disease was considered; the amount of resources allocated to the State is R$ 12,7 million.

Brasilia – A decree from the Ministry of Health published this Friday (17) in the Official Gazette of the Union establishes resources for medium and high complexity actions aimed at combating influenza in the state of São Paulo.

According to the publication, the need to organize outpatient and hospital services in the fight against the disease was considered, based on epidemiological information provided by the Health Department.

The amount of resources allocated is R$ 12,7 million. According to the ministry, the state must plan and agree, together with the municipalities, on the distribution of resources, according to the predicted or detected epidemiological situation.

The São Paulo State Health Department has extended the flu vaccination campaign until today. Since the start of the campaign on April 15th, until last Monday (13th), 6,4 million people had been immunized throughout the state. The goal is to vaccinate around 7 million people in São Paulo.

Vaccination coverage is currently lowest among pregnant women, with 293,9 doses administered. Among other groups, 3,5 million seniors aged 60 or older have been vaccinated; 662,4 children aged 6 months to under 2 years; 594,7 healthcare workers; 1,2 million people with chronic illnesses; 67,7 women up to 45 days postpartum; and 5,3 indigenous people.
