São Paulo is the most affordable option for the Olympics.
São Paulo, the capital of the state of São Paulo, which has flights 23% cheaper than Rio de Janeiro, the host city of the event, will host the first football matches of the Olympic Games in South America on August 3rd.
ViajaNet - With the opening ceremony scheduled for August 5th, Rio de Janeiro is in the final stages of preparations for the grand opening of the Olympics. However, São Paulo is expected to host the first football matches of the sporting event, starting on August 3rd.
The expectation is that the sport most popular among Brazilians will attract even more visitors to the capital of São Paulo. According to a survey by the online travel agency ViajaNet, airfares to São Paulo are on average 4% cheaper than during the same period last year.
This could be an opportunity for those who want to attend the games more economically, since airfares to Rio are 23% more expensive than to São Paulo. For some routes, during the Olympic period, airfares have increased by up to 278% to the Marvelous City.
"Whether in São Paulo or Rio, the best way to get lower prices is by comparing the same route with different airlines, especially when there's more flexibility," emphasizes Gustavo Mariotto, Marketing Manager at ViajaNet. "This is because the price can vary significantly from one departure day to the next."
Arena Corinthians, in São Paulo, will host six first-round matches, two quarter-final matches, one men's semi-final, and the bronze medal match in the women's tournament. The last game at the São Paulo arena will be on August 19th.
