Bahia 247 - The bike-sharing station in Bonfim, part of the Salvador Vai de Bike project, is back in operation. After an incident in the early hours of Friday (14), when the station was targeted by vandals, the company responsible for maintenance was contacted and carried out repairs.
The City Hall "clarifies that, contrary to what has been reported by some media outlets, no bicycles were stolen."
According to Isaac Edington, secretary of the World Cup Office (Ecopa) and responsible for the project at the municipal level, there was damage to the station's technology box, electrical wiring, and the support (arm) that secures the equipment.
The case is being investigated by the 3rd Territorial Police Station (DT/Bonfim). The investigation team is searching for surveillance camera footage that could identify the vandals.
According to the secretary, the Military Police and the Municipal Guard were also called in.
"We ask the public that, if they notice any strange activity at the stations, to report it to the City Hall Ombudsman's Office by calling 156. We cannot allow the public to be harmed by vandals."
