The 2014 New Year's Eve celebration in Salvador, which took place in Praça Cairu, in the Comércio district, was approved by more than 80% of the population; data was revealed by a survey conducted by the Municipal Ombudsman's Office (OGM) between January 8th, 9th and 13th; the survey showed that 84% of respondents were satisfied with the changes made to the New Year's Eve celebration, whose main party was moved from Barra, which is under construction, to Comércio.

Approximately 300 people were interviewed in the Comércio and Cidade Baixa regions. Those interviewed included merchants, street vendors, and frequent visitors to the areas, the majority of whom had completed higher education or high school.
Research also revealed that accessibility to the location and the quality of public restrooms enhanced the celebrations, but that the distance from the shoreline was one of the points criticized, due to the impossibility for people to fulfill the common traditions and rituals of the end-of-year festivities, such as jumping seven waves in the sea.
