Find out what to do if you have batches of food at home that are banned by Anvisa (Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency).

The agency announced the suspension of sales of certain batches of food products.

247- The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) announced the suspension of sales of batches of food products, including mushrooms, garlic sauce and fruit pulp, and also prohibited the sale of olive oil from a brand of unknown origin, Vale dos Vinhedos. The decision was published in the Official Gazette of the Union (DOU) last Monday (7), after analyses that pointed to unsatisfactory results for the food safety of these items. If you have any of the suspended products at home, Anvisa's recommendation is clear: do not consume them and try to collect them as quickly as possible. This applies to three food categories, and the affected batches have problems that could compromise consumers' health.

Suspended lots and the associated risks
Anvisa (Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency) detailed the batches that presented problems in its food safety analyses. Regarding the affected products, the agency identified flaws in components that can be harmful to health, such as sulfur dioxide and foreign matter. 

Garlic sauce – Qualitá brand, from Grupo Pão de Açúcar (GPA), manufactured by Sakura Nakaya Alimentos – Lot 29, expiring 01/2026. The product was detected with sulfur dioxide above permitted levels, which may represent a risk of allergic reactions or respiratory problems in consumers sensitive to the substance. 

Whole canned mushrooms – Imperador brand, manufactured by Indústria e Comércio Nobre – Lot 241023CHI, expiring 10/2026. The product also showed elevated levels of sulfur dioxide. 

Strawberry fruit pulp – De Marchi brand, Lot 09437-181, expiring on 01/11/2026. Analysis found the presence of foreign matter, which may indicate contamination or unauthorized ingredients. In all these cases, the products were analyzed by public laboratories, such as the Central Public Health Laboratory of the Federal District (Lacen/DF) and the Central Public Health Laboratory of Santa Catarina (Lacen/SC). When analysis results indicate failures in food safety criteria, Anvisa acts to prevent consumers from being exposed to risks.

What should you do if you have these products at home?
If you purchased any of these products, do not consume them and follow the instructions of the responsible companies. Both affected brands – Qualitá and Imperador – have already issued statements informing that they are recalling the affected batches from all points of sale and offering exchanges or refunds to consumers.

Regarding Qualitá garlic sauce, the company, part of the Pão de Açúcar Group (GPA), has already taken steps and is available to exchange or refund the product. Consumers should contact the store where the purchase was made or call Customer Service at 0800 779 6761.
In the case of Imperador mushrooms, the company reported that it is conducting traceability of the affected batch and is also recalling the units. For more information, consumers can contact them by email at sac@produtosimperador.com.br. If you have De Marchi fruit pulp, which had a batch suspended due to foreign matter, contact the product supplier for instructions on how to proceed, although, so far, the company has not made a direct statement. Vale dos Olive Oil 

Vineyards: Prohibited product
In addition to the foods already mentioned, Anvisa (Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency) also prohibited the sale of olive oil from the Vale dos Vinhedos brand, imported by Intralogística Distribuidora Concept LTDA, due to its unknown origin and flaws in labeling tests and physicochemical analyses. Anvisa clarifies that, without adequate information about the product's origin, it is not possible to guarantee its compliance with the safety standards required by Brazilian legislation. Unfortunately, the importer of Vale dos Vinhedos olive oil did not respond to contacts made by the reporting team. The Globe and it was not possible to locate representatives of the brand for further clarification.

How to prevent problems with food products?
The Anvisa alert serves to reinforce the importance of consumer awareness. When making purchases, it is essential to check if products have clear and complete labeling, as well as observing expiration dates and batch numbers. To avoid health risks, whenever there is a recall recommendation, consumers should follow the guidelines provided by manufacturers and Anvisa, and should not consume the affected products.

If in doubt, the Anvisa website offers a complete list of suspended and recalled products, and also provides channels for complaints and clarifications.

Careful consumption of processed foods and imported products is essential, as quality issues can directly affect health. Corporate transparency is also crucial, especially when there are flaws in production processes that could compromise public well-being.
