247 – With the accelerated drop in the Cantareira System's water level, the water supply crisis committee decided that Sabesp will have to reduce its water intake to supply the São Paulo metropolitan region.

Created in January, the group is made up of technicians from ANA (National Water Agency) and DAEE (Department of Water and Electric Energy) to monitor the reservoir every 15 days.

Water withdrawal from the system, which received the transfer of the so-called "dead volume" in May, increased by 64% at the end of June. The forecast is that the entire usable volume of the reservoir will be depleted between July 7th and 8th.

The amount of rain was also well below the average expected for June. Cantareira was operating on Tuesday (1st) at 20,4% of its capacity.

According to the group's reassessment, in the first half of July, the company will be able to draw a maximum of 19,7 m³ of water per second – equivalent to 19.700 liters – 8,4% less than in the previous two weeks.
