Bahia 247 - Teachers and coordinators of the state education system will have their careers restructured by the State government to guarantee compliance with the national education floor. The bill (PL) that promotes the changes necessary for this equalization was sent by Governor Rui Costa to the Legislative Assembly of Bahia (Alba) this Thursday (30), and will affect more than 30 thousand employees (active, inactive and Reda).
According to the Bill, the adjustment granted to the initial remuneration of the teaching career is now R$ 2.145,36, a value slightly above the national minimum wage for the category (R$ 2.135,00). The same index was extended to all subsequent grades and levels of the teaching career, benefiting active, retired, and temporary teachers.
"Even in the context of a nationwide economic crisis, it is our priority to ensure the appreciation of teachers, who are fundamental to the development of our state," stated the governor, who is confident in the approval of the bill originating from the Department of Education (SEC).
In addition to the recent promotion granted to teachers who passed the Professional Development Course in Educational Technologies, the category will see a salary increase of approximately 9%. The course was mandatory for the promotion of public school teachers in Elementary and Secondary Education in the State of Bahia and allowed for career promotions for 22.853 state network employees.
According to the Secretariat of Administration (Saeb), the actions to value education employees, which include promotions in the careers of teachers in the state education network and the changes proposed in the bill sent today to the Legislative Assembly, will generate an increase in personnel expenses of approximately R$ 95 million in 2016.
Already in 2017, the impact will be R$ 162,6 million. For Governor Rui Costa, this is a fundamental investment. "We can only believe in a better future for all by generating transformations through education, and that is what we are seeking," he stated.
