Also in the municipality, Rui signed a service order for the implementation of the Water Supply System, with an investment of over R$ 2,1 million.

Water in rural areas

The implementation of the Water Supply System, authorized by the governor and to be executed by the Secretariat of Water Infrastructure and Sanitation (SIHS), benefits five thousand people in the villages of Catuaba, Catuabinha, Alto Bonito and Lagoa do Alívio. The head of SIHS, Cássio Peixoto, was present at the signing of the service order.

"Since water is life and an absolute priority, one of the ways to improve people's health and quality of life is to improve water quality. And our commitment to maintaining and improving the supply is to ensure that all districts in Bahia have treated water," Rui stated at the time.

The investment in the project comes from the State Fund for Combating and Eradicating Poverty (Funcep). The construction of the system will involve the installation of approximately ten thousand meters of distribution network and 1.207 new household connections.

Roseval Araújo, a 70-year-old farmer and resident of Catuaba, is eagerly awaiting the arrival of piped water in his community. "For us, it's fundamental, especially for drinking, because where there's water, there's everything."
