Bahia 247 - The expansion of water supply in Bahia is the highlight of this week's 'Digaí, Governador!' (Tell me, Governor!). In this edition of the radio program, Rui Costa challenges the Bahia Water and Sanitation Engineering Company (Cerb), linked to the Secretariat of Water Infrastructure and Sanitation (Sihs), to exceed the target for delivering water supply systems in 2017.
"Since 2012, the Northeast has been experiencing a severe water crisis. And now the drought is back with full force, but we will continue our investment in water supply. [...] I made a big challenge to Cerb: that it manages to meet the historic goal of installing 800 simplified water supply systems in 2017," says the governor. Watch the program below.
Rui highlights other investments already made by the State Government in water infrastructure, such as the Rio Colônia dam in southern Bahia. Scheduled for completion in the second half of this year, the project is receiving R$ 108 million in funding. "It's a major project. An important dam that will regulate the water supply for the city of Itabuna."
Also in this edition, Rui announces the construction of the Baraúnas/Vazante Dam, whose main purpose will be to supply water to the population of Seabra, Boninal, and part of the municipality of Piatã. "In February, I will be in Seabra to give the order to start the works," the governor emphasizes, also mentioning the Catolé River dam, which will be built in the southwest region.
