Bahia 247 - One of the main events of the Agroindustry in the south of the state, the Itabuna Agricultural Exhibition (Expoita), received a visit from Governor Rui Costa this Saturday (30). The governor took the opportunity to announce that at the beginning of October he will return to the city to sign a contract that will authorize the duplication of the highway that connects the cities of Itabuna and Ilhéus.

“I will return soon to sign the contract for the duplication of the Ilhéus-Itabuna highway, a great dream that the region has had for many decades. Many of these dreams are being materialized, such as the Colônia River dam, the Ilhéus bridge, and the new hospital on the Cocoa Coast. These are historical milestones that the region has been waiting for for many decades,” he stated.

The governor congratulated the region on hosting Expoita. "The fair is very important for agriculture, livestock, and milk production, as well as all economic activity in the Itabuna region."
It is estimated that around R$ 10 million has been moved since the opening night of the exhibition, last Tuesday (26), between auctions, business fair and animal competition.

“During these days of the event, we have the opportunity for livestock farmers and agricultural producers to participate and see the best that agriculture in the State of Bahia has to offer, through lectures and seminars. It is an event for large livestock farmers and also for small producers, as it is a concern of the State Government to grow the production chain as a whole,” stated the Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock, Irrigation, Fisheries and Aquaculture (Seagri), Vitor Bonfim.

According to the organizers, approximately 250 people visited the event to enjoy the varied program featuring cattle, horses, a business fair, technical lectures, a dairy competition, equestrian parades, musical shows, and an amusement park.
