SÃO PAULO - The organizers of the "rolezinho" (a large gathering of young people in shopping malls) have reached an agreement with the São Paulo city government, the São Paulo Public Prosecutor's Office, and shopping mall associations to suspend future events and move them to the malls' parking lots.
According to a note released this Thursday (23) by SMPIR (Municipal Secretariat for the Promotion of Racial Equality), the agreement will be formalized next week. "The intention is to enhance the mobilization capacity of these young people to promote actions and campaigns that positively impact this segment of society," the statement said.
The city's shopping malls will be responsible for providing the area for the event. "SMPIR has been in dialogue with young people from the East and North Zones, about 30 young people, who have shown themselves receptive to the mediation of the secretariat, suspending the 'rolezinhos' (mass gatherings of young people) to seek an understanding with the shopping malls."
