Water rationing resumes in Maceió.
400 people will be affected by the new water rationing schedule in Maceió, which is expected to last until May 17th; the reason is the start of the second phase of the recovery work on the Pratagy System treatment plant, responsible for supplying 40% of the capital.
Alagoas247 - The second stage of recovery of the Pratagy System begins this Tuesday (14), starting a new water rationing system in neighborhoods of the capital of Alagoas. The measure is expected to affect 400 people in Maceió and last until May 17.
Three areas have been established for the implementation of the water rationing system. The first two, comprising the neighborhoods of Poço, Jaraguá, Pajuçara, Ponta da Terra, Ponta Verde, Mangabeiras, Jatiúca and Cruz das Almas (area 1); and Centro, Prado, Trapiche da Barra, Pontal da Barra, Levada, Vergel, Ponta Grossa, Jacintinho, Farol, Pinheiro, Sanatório, Gruta and Pitanguinha (area 2), will receive water every 48 hours, always on even-numbered days.
In the other area, which covers Benedito Bentes 1 and 2, water will be supplied every 24 hours, always on odd-numbered days.
The water rationing will be implemented to allow for the rehabilitation work on the Josué Palmeira treatment plant, known as the Pratagy System. The work will be carried out by the company Petranova and will cost R$ 1.516.363,84.
This is the second phase of the Pratagy System's recovery. The first phase took place in December 2014, when 3 meters of sludge were removed from the settling tank. A total of 20 to 30 truckloads were used. With the initial work at Pratagy, the flow rate increased by 200 m³/hour. With the completion of this new phase, the capacity will increase to 3.800 m³/hour. This is the first time the treatment plant has been recovered since the start of operations in November 2003.
Pratagy is responsible for supplying 40% of the city's water. Another 40% is supplied by wells, 15% by the Catolé System, and 5% by the Aviação System.
