RMS experiences 14 homicides in a bloody weekend.
Public safety (or the lack thereof) continues to be a real thorn in the side of Governor Jaques Wagner (PT); in addition to the alarming number of murders, the Public Security Secretariat of the State of Bahia (SSP) recorded 49 stolen vehicles from Friday (12) to this Sunday (14) in Salvador and the Metropolitan Region (RMS) alone.

Governor Jaques Wagner (PT) continues to fuel the opposition's attacks due to violence statistics. Public safety (or the lack thereof) remains a major thorn in the side of the PT member.
In yet another bloody weekend, the Public Security Secretariat of the State of Bahia (SSP) recorded 14 homicides from Friday (12) until this Sunday (14) in Salvador and the Metropolitan Region (RMS) alone.
All the crimes were committed with firearms and took place in the capital city, in the neighborhoods of São Cristóvão, Campinas de Brotas, Plataforma, Barroquinha, Lauro de Freitas, Pero Vaz, Bom Juá, Marechal Rondon and Areia Branca, and in the municipalities of Candeias and Simões Filho (one of the most violent in Latin America).
One of the victims was a police officer from the 9th Independent Military Police Company (9th CIPM). He was surprised by three armed men last night in the Lígia Maria area, in the Marechal Rondon neighborhood.
On Twitter, one of the opposition members to lament and demand action from the governor was the deputy leader of the PMDB in the Federal Chamber, Congressman Lúcio Vieira Lima: "Is this allowed, JW (initials of Jaques Wagner's name)?"
According to the SSP, 49 vehicles were stolen during the same period. The crimes will be investigated by the Homicide and Personal Protection Police Station (DHPP).
