Rick resigns from his position as Secretary of Cultural Promotion.

Singer and cultural producer Rick resigned from his position as Extraordinary Secretary of Cultural Promotion for the State on Tuesday, the 5th. Rick had been appointed by former governor Siqueira Campos (PSDB) on January 13th and had been receiving criticism from the Tocantins artistic community for his performance at the head of the department. "The State has more urgent priorities in the cultural sector, which would make it impossible, at this moment, to plan a budget that would allow the expansion of state cultural policies beyond its borders," says the singer.

Tocantins 247 - Singer and cultural producer Rick, from the duo Rick and Rener, resigned from his position as Extraordinary Secretary of Cultural Promotion for the State this Tuesday, the 5th. In the letter in which he formalizes his resignation, Rick states that his intention, as secretary, was to reinforce the name and art of the State as an artist and as part of a management team.

The former secretary also reaffirmed his willingness to continue promoting the name of the State of Tocantins "in a positive way wherever he goes," and to make himself available for future work in support of culture.

Rick was appointed by former governor Siqueira Campos (PSDB) on January 13th and had been receiving criticism from the Tocantins artistic community for his performance at the head of the department.

Here is the full text of the letter delivered by the former secretary:

"When I accepted the invitation from the State Government of Tocantins to assume the position of Extraordinary Secretary of Cultural Promotion, my intention was none other than to reinforce the name and art of my State wherever I was, as an artist and as part of an administration."

Born in Tocantins, with roots in Monte do Carmo, I dreamed, and still dream, like any of us, of the appreciation of our cultural expressions and their expansion to the point of promoting a cultural democracy that goes beyond regional and national borders.

However, I understand that the State has more urgent priorities in the cultural sector, which would make it impossible, at this time, to plan a budget that would allow the expansion of state cultural policies beyond its borders.

Regardless of the criticism and opposition to cultural management in Tocantins, the current situation has made me rethink my role as extraordinary secretary at this time.

I appreciate the support of the state administration and all those who, for whatever reason, are committed to strengthening cultural policies that promote the culture of Tocantins.

Reaffirming my willingness to continue promoting the name of my beloved State of Tocantins in a positive way wherever I go, and making myself available for future work in support of culture, I irrevocably resign from the position of Extraordinary Secretary of Cultural Promotion, thanking former Governor Siqueira Campos and Governor Sandoval Cardoso for the trust placed in me.
