Renan: Janot put on a spectacular display of unscrupulousness.

Alagoas 247 – Senator Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL) released a strongly worded statement after the methods of Attorney General Rodrigo Janot came to light. See below:

"The facts that cast serious suspicion on Janot's conduct in the plea bargain agreements confirm what I have been warning about from the beginning. The prosecutor generalized the accusations, tried to show that everyone is corrupt, accused without evidence, persecuted people, and multiplied investigations on the same issues."

Now the reason is clear. The group of prosecutors and the illegal methods underlying the J&F negotiations are the same as those in the testimonies of Nestor Cerveró, Delcídio Amaral, and Sérgio Machado, who were instructed to improperly mention my name and record conversations without judicial authorization to escape punishment. It was based on the orchestrated recording made by Machado that the prosecutor requested the arrest of the head of a branch of government, plunging the country into an institutional crisis. The investigation derived from this testimony was so weak that it was shelved by the Federal Police.

It's strange that the prosecutor only "discovered" his right-hand man's connections at the Attorney General's Office with the criminals last Thursday, when everyone already knew about these shady dealings. What we see is a spectacle of unprecedented wickedness and dishonesty. I hope everything is clarified and that all the corrupt individuals, including those disguised as ethical martyrs, are finally exposed.
