The rapporteur of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry says that Cachoeira's involvement was greater in Goiás.
Deputy Odair Cunha (PT-MG), who is from the same party as the governor of the Federal District, Agnelo Queiroz, said that the situation of the investigated gang is very different in the two states.
Agência Brasil - The rapporteur of the Joint Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPMI), Deputy Odair Cunha (PT-MG), who is from the same party as the governor of the Federal District, Agnelo Queiroz, said that the situation of the gang investigated by the CPMI is very different in the two states.
"Everything seen so far shows that Cachoeira's activities are infinitely more extensive in Goiás than in the Federal District."
In Odair Cunha's opinion, the links between Governor Agnelo and the businessman from Goiás, who is suspected of leading a gang that exploited illegal gambling in Goiás and rigged bids by corrupting public officials, "have not been proven."
During Agnelo's testimony, which lasted about ten hours, opposition parliamentarians insisted on asking questions about the purchase of his house, which cost R$ 400. Some parliamentarians insinuated that the value was far below the general price of properties located in the same neighborhood in Brasília. There were also questions about where the governor had obtained the money, since his assets at the time were incompatible with that amount.
According to the rapporteur, however, the values and the purchase of Agnelo's house are not important and should not be explored by the members of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPMI). "The house is not the subject of the CPI. He needs to provide explanations to the Justice system."
Regarding the breaches of confidentiality concerning Agnelo and Perillo, Cunha said that they will be analyzed according to parliamentary procedure. Both have made their bank, tax, and telephone records available to the members of the Joint Parliamentary Inquiry Commission (CPMI). Tomorrow, in an administrative meeting, the deputies and senators will vote on the requests related to the matter.
