Southern Region Gains Police Station and Border Command
The Vice-Governor and Secretary of Public Security, José Eliton, will be in Goiatuba and Itumbiara this Friday, municipalities located in the Southern Region of the State; Eliton will inaugurate the new Goiatuba Police Station at 11 am and then go to Itumbiara, where he will install the Debt Operations Command (COD) in the city, and where he will also deliver the new headquarters of the 2nd Police District and the Homicide Investigation Group (GIH), both of the Civil Police.
Goiás 247 - The vice-governor and Secretary of Public Security and Penitentiary Administration, José Eliton, will be in Goiatuba and Itumbiara this Friday (24), municipalities located in the Southern Region of the State. His agenda includes commitments such as the inauguration of new police stations and the installation of the Border Operations Command (COD), actions that expand the performance of police forces in the interior.
José Eliton will inaugurate the new Goiatuba Police Station at 11:00 AM. In addition to the head officer, Roberto Carlos Carvalho, and the agents who will be stationed there, the station will also have four clerks and a fingerprint expert. This unit is under the jurisdiction of the 6th Regional Police Station of Itumbiara, headed by Gustavo Carlos Ferreira.
The building renovation was completed with funds from the Direct Money to Barracks, Police Stations and Prison Units Program (PDDQDeUP) and also with funds obtained through partnerships with segments of organized civil society, the Judiciary and the City Council. The investments amount to approximately R$ 200.
Next, the vice-governor and head of the SSPAP will go to Itumbiara, where he will inaugurate the Debt Operations Command (COD) in the city, and where he will also deliver the new headquarters of the 2nd Police District and the Homicide Investigation Group (GIH), both of the Civil Police.
COD
The Border Operations Command (COD) is a specialized troop that operates in cities in Goiás that border other states, primarily combating arms and drug trafficking, cargo theft, bank robberies, and smuggling. To suppress the activities of criminal organizations, partnerships are established with the Civil and Federal Police. The work goes beyond simple repression and also includes extensive intelligence services.
Currently, 15 COD bases are installed in various regions of Goiás, in the municipalities of Aporé, Britânia, Cabeceiras, Cachoeira Alta, Campos Belos, Chapadão do Céu, Corumbaíba, Goiânia, Itumbiara, Jataí, Lagoa Santa, Piranhas, Porangatu, Posse, and São Miguel do Araguaia.
2th Police District
The 2nd Police District of Itumbiara, which is also part of the complex to be visited by Eliton, has the head of the unit, Delegate Vinícius Penna, four police officers, and four clerks. The building's physical structure includes a reception area, six offices, and parking. The integration of spaces was designed to improve the quality of services provided to the public. The complex will also house the headquarters of the Homicide Investigation Group (GIH).
