Brazilian tax authorities release a batch of income tax refunds totaling R$ 2,7 billion.

In the second batch this year, 1,490 million taxpayers were served, totaling more than R$ 2,5 billion.
Of the total value of the batches, R$ 951,6 million refers to taxpayers who, by law, have priority in receiving the refund. These include 477.147 elderly taxpayers and 51.310 taxpayers with some physical or mental disability or serious illness.

If the amount is not credited, the taxpayer may contact any Banco do Brasil branch or call the Customer Service Center: 4004-0001 (capital cities), 0800-729-0001 (other locations) and 0800-729-0088 (special telephone line exclusively for the hearing impaired) to schedule the credit to a checking or savings account in their name at any bank. Refunded amounts are adjusted by the basic interest rate, the Selic rate.
The refund will be available at the bank for one year. If the taxpayer does not claim it within this period, they must request it online using the Electronic Form - Refund Payment Request, or directly through the Revenue Service's virtual service center, e-CAC, in the DIRPF Processing Statement.
To facilitate access to tax returns, the IRS provides an app for tablets and smartphones. With it, users can directly access information from the IRS databases regarding the release of Individual Income Tax refunds and the registration status of a CPF (Brazilian taxpayer ID number).
