Rands points the finger and accuses João da Costa of retaliating against civil servants.

Maurício Rands, pre-candidate for the Construindo Um Novo Brasil (CNB) movement, claims that PCR employees are being prevented from assuming their positions in the primaries; current mayor João da Costa denies the accusations and says that such allegations will be investigated.

SS 247 - Allegations of retaliation against employees at the Recife City Hall (PCR) were the main topic of conversation yesterday between the Workers' Party (PT) pre-candidates Maurício Rands, from the Construindo Um Novo Brasil (CNB) faction, and the current mayor João da Costa, who is seeking re-election. Both participated in an event at the Federal Rural University of Pernambuco (UFRPE) for the awarding of an honorary doctorate to Governor Eduardo Campos (PSB).

Seeking to tarnish the image of Mayor João da Costa as the primaries approach, which will take place next month (the 20th), the state Secretary of Government, Maurício Rands, was harsh in his criticism of his opponent, alleging that the mayor is preventing people who support him (Rands) from expressing their opinions.

However, for Rands the problem is much bigger, insofar as this stance does not only come from João da Costa, but also from other people in the second tier, leaving several people who work at PCR without the necessary comfort to assume their positions in the primaries.

On the other hand, Mayor João da Costa appears calm in the face of the accusations. According to the current mayor, there are no retaliations from the PCR (Recife City Hall), therefore Rands' statements are unfounded. The mayor also said that if the secretary identifies anything wrong at the PCR, he can call and make his complaints so that action can be taken.
