247, with Agência Brasil - During the rain this Wednesday afternoon (1st) in the city of São Paulo, a wall collapsed around 17:30 pm on Rua Menininha Lobo, in the Vila Carmosina neighborhood, east of the city.
According to the Fire Department, 41 people were injured at a party for university medical students and received medical attention.
According to firefighters, the collapse was caused by the force of the rainwater. The entire city of São Paulo was on alert for flooding since 16:10 PM this Wednesday, according to the city's Emergency Management Center (CGE).
A state of alert is declared when rainfall is considered to have the potential to cause flooding (intermittent or continuous and/or moderate to heavy precipitation).
Areas of instability formed by the heat and high availability of moisture coming from the interior of the state caused the rains in the capital. Images from the CGE's weather radar indicated heavy precipitation with the potential for hail in the southeast and east zones.
