Alagoas 247 - Exactly 156.785 people from Alagoas have the right to withdraw funds from their FGTS (Severance Pay Guarantee Fund) from inactive accounts. The amount to be paid to these workers is equivalent to approximately R$ 128 million, as revealed by the national president of Caixa Econômica Federal (CEF), Gilberto Occhi, in an interview with... Radio Gazeta, on the morning of this Wednesday (15).

The workers who benefit will be able to use the money to pay off or reduce high debts, make investments such as acquiring property, supplement the family budget, or even save the money to be invested and potentially generate even more returns.

According to the national president of Caixa Econômica Federal, withdrawals from inactive FGTS accounts will only be available starting March 10th, following a schedule previously established by the financial institution, which is very similar to the payment schedule for PIS (Social Integration Program).

Initially, Caixa opened 3.400 branches spread throughout Brazil, including in Alagoas, this Wednesday, to answer workers' questions in person. This is only one option for clarification, as explanations are also available on the institution's website (www.caixa.gov.br/contasinativas). On this website, it is possible to find out if there is an amount to be withdrawn. To do so, you must provide your CPF or NIS/PIS number.

"We advise that it is not necessary to go to a Caixa branch when you have the convenience of finding out if you are entitled to withdraw your FGTS (Brazilian severance pay fund) through the website. But, if you wish, you can go to a branch and clear up any doubts, as they will be open two hours earlier," informed Gilberto Occhi.

Ease

The president said that workers can choose to receive the funds from their inactive FGTS (Brazilian severance pay fund) account in a savings account, checking account, or joint account at Caixa Econômica Federal (a Brazilian bank). This is a way to make life easier for the beneficiary. Withdrawals will also be possible using the Citizen Card.
