PT intensifies rebellion and rejects PMDB candidate.
Rubens Otoni and Mauro Rubem lashed out against the PMDB party in an interview with the "Giro" column of the newspaper O Popular. Otoni said that his brother Antônio Gomide was ahead, according to the Serpes poll, of Júnior Friboi, who is considered the "new face" in Iris Rezende's party. Rubem stated that the PMDB could be the salvation of Perillo's election if the party behaves arrogantly, thinking it can choose the 2014 candidate alone. The relationship between the two parties had already been deteriorating since last year, and now tensions are even higher.
Goiás 247_ The crisis between PMDB and PT is worsening publicly, and this increase in tension is yet another consequence of the numbers from the Serpes/O Popular poll released last Sunday.
Based on the results of the first survey regarding the 2014 election, members of the Workers' Party (PT) claim that the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party (PMDB) is not in a position to demand the candidacy for governor. Deputies Rubens Otoni and Mauro Rubem were responsible for delivering this message.
The statements were given to the column "Giro" in O Popular, written this month by journalist Caio Henrique Salgado. "Our mayor came in first for the Senate and also ahead of (José Batista) Júnior, who is touted by the PMDB as the new face, in the only scenario in which he was included," said Otoni, referring to his brother Antônio Gomide, mayor of Anápolis.
"Will the PMDB be Marconi's gravedigger or his lifeline? To be the gravedigger, we have to work together, without the arrogance and presumption of thinking that the name is decided by them," Mauro Rubem declared.
In the prompted survey, Gomide came in fifth place with 6,0%; followed by Júnior Friboi who obtained 4,7%. Serpes indicated that voters desire something new, but the two leaders in the survey were the "old guard" Marconi Perillo and Iris Rezende.
The PMDB expected more from Júnior Friboi, and the poll results prompted the PT to launch another attack. It's not the first time the PT, mainly through Otoni, has been sending messages to Iris's party saying there's no agreement for the PMDB to lead the ticket.
Since last year, Gomide's brother has been openly saying that his party will be subservient to the PMDB. At the height of the discussion, federal deputy Sandro Mabel appeared to say that an agreement does exist and the PMDB expects it to be honored.
